Port Data: Maritime board level data
We have increased the coverage of cargo throughput at ports to include all the individual maritime boards. Minor ports are basically the ports not managed by the various port trusts. And while historically the Minor ports were small (and hence the name ‘Minor’) they have now become large due to the entry of the private sector in this space. So minor ports are not really minor.
And with the entry of the private sector, many of these ports are now owned or operated by listed entities. And thus, their performance becomes relevant to track not just from an economic perspective but also from a market perspective. More on this later in a separate post.
