UPI Spends by Category

One of the challenges of using macro data is that there is fairly limited data available to track consumption. But there is now good news!

NPCI has started releasing data on UPI spends by some Merchant Category Codes (MCCs). That data is now live and available from January 2023.

There are in all 50 MCCs for which the data is available but not all have consistent history.

The data sits under Payments —> Value —> Monthly Data and can be accessed from here: https://economy.indiadatahub.com/category/IND?sidebar=Payments%2FValue%2FMonthly+Data
